Awareness Meeting on the POCSO Act 2012 for Children

SRED conducted an awareness meeting on the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act, 2012 at Kallaru for children under 18 during the Pongal celebration. Poonkuzhali delivered the welcome speech.

The children from Pichiwakkam Check Post performed a skit on "Good Touch Bad Touch," followed by a dance.  

A short film was also screened to raise awareness about the POCSO Act and "Good Touch Bad Touch."

Advocate Austin explained the POCSO Act 2012 in simple terms, engaging the students in a question-and-answer session. He discussed what actions students should take if they encounter such situations, how the law supports them, and the use of helpline numbers like 1098.

A simplified copy of the POCSO Act was distributed to the participants. 

Colouring notebooks, pens, and crayons were given as gifts for the children. Lunch was served with sugarcane and sweet Pongal.
