SRED Discussion Meeting on 2026 Action Plan and Development Initiatives

A consultation and discussion meeting was held near Kallaru, Arakkonam. The meeting focused on planning and implementing new activities for the year 2026. It was conducted under the leadership of Advisory Committee Member Mrs. P. Pramila. Mrs. G. Shanthi, delivered the welcome address, and Mrs. Saraswathi, explained the objectives and mission of the organization.


The meeting was attended by the Managing Director, Ms. Burnad Fathima, along with leaders from various rural movements and allied organizations, including Naina Masilamani, Chandru, Ponnarasu, Kalaimani, and Dayalan, among others. They actively participated and shared their valuable suggestions and opinions.


During the discussion, it was proposed that petitions should be submitted in Gram Sabha meetings against certain rice varieties such as Kamala and Pusa. It was also suggested that awareness should be created about the impact of pesticides on women by documenting their conditions through photographs and videos. The participants decided to extend their gratitude to Columbia University for supporting SRED’s initiatives.

Further, it was resolved to provide training to students on the preparation of natural manure and vermicompost. Plans were also discussed to promote natural farming and establish kitchen gardens for women in the areas of Pallur, Kaveri Rajapuram, and Anaikattaputhur. Additionally, the members deliberated on providing training to women in small livestock rearing, including pig, poultry, duck, and rabbit farming.
