Participants from thirteen countries attended the Leading from the South Partners Convening held by Women’s Fund Asia in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Ms. Gajalakshmi participated on behalf of SRED. Interpretation was provided in five languages, and all participants introduced themselves. Each partner organization shared the nature of the work they are doing. A mapping exercise was conducted to discuss the changes, impacts, outcomes, and shifts that had taken place over the last three years through the LFS Fund. On behalf of SRED, I shared about our work related to honor killings, land rights, and child abuse.

On the second day, the sessions were divided into four themes: gender-based violence, sexual and reproductive health and rights, climate justice, and economic justice. I participated in the session on gender-based violence. I shared the changes that occurred through the LFS Program, including the work done on the SC/ST Act, CEDAW, policy and law, workshops, awareness programmes, advocacy efforts, and capacity building. An evaluation form was given, and we were asked to answer questions related to the work of other organizations as well.

On the third day, discussions were held on regional connections and geographic networking. Participants were divided into South Asia and East Asia groups. The challenges related to funding in the South Asia region were discussed in detail.
