Gajalakshmi and Saraswathi from SRED took part in the Participatory Action Research (PAR) training held in Sri Lanka on October 10–11, 2025. The training was organized under PANAP’s project “Agroecology in Action for Climate Mitigation and Adaptation.” It aimed to help rural communities document how climate change affects them and how agroecology can be a real solution. South Asia is one of the most climate-affected regions, but rural poor, women, youth, and Indigenous groups are often left out of climate policies. The PAR method focused on community-led research, where local people are not just subjects but co-researchers. The goal was to collect grassroots evidence on how climate change impacts food security, food sovereignty, and migration, and how agroecology helps with climate adaptation, mitigation, and resilience.
Gajalakshmi and Saraswathi shared experiences from Tamil Nadu’s rural areas, showing the importance of agroecology in achieving climate justice. They also presented a PowerPoint on SRED’s community-based work. Their presentation highlighted how rural women, farm workers, and youth are involved in agroecological practices and building climate resilience. The PPT shared real-life stories, local strategies, and advocacy efforts that connect with PANAP’s goals.
